Please introduce us to the band:

Me on the mic, C-Dogg on the strings and tings, Danny Bass killing it on the Bass (He’s a dirt bag), Thom Mills a.k.a. John Grills on the skins. We also got some hoes singing backing some times if there not too busy tricking for us.

In 3 words how would you describe your ‘sound’?

Funk, Groove, Big.

Where’s the name ‘Mean Poppa Lean’ from?

The name came from my old man originally! I was looking at a pic of my pops kicking a dirty lean on a hay stack or some shit and it looked funk as. The rest is history.

Your previous band Hedroom were wicked, what became of them?

We decided on a clean split cause of some problems with the bass but it was for the best. Me and the guitarist C-Dogg wrote most of the tunes and wanted to go more of a funk direction anyway, so we packed our shit up and headed for Brighton! Now were throwing our shit around like a potent disease!

In your relatively short career can you give us some of yours and the bands highlights?

We’re pretty new but every show so for has been amazing and an incredible turn out. People have ended up pants down getting licked with dirty beats! Get down to the show and you won’t be disappointed. You will probably end up taking our girth!

Where do you see Mean Poppa Lean in 5 years time?

Chillin with Prince and George Clinton in the studio slamming beats like pogs!

How do you find the music scene in Brighton?

If you look past the shit Indie and the wack fucking scene kids it’s off the shelf! Even if you’re into that shit it’s got it in full! There are always heavy beat nights and more live venues than chip shops! Well almost! Get down here!

What can we expect from your forthcoming EP, Mean Poppa Lean?

It’s gonna be mean and probably smash everything you’ve ever heard!

By the way, props on your gig at The Providence in Brighton on Friday. How did you enjoy it?

That was probably our best gig yet. It was only our third gig in Brighton but it was packed. People showed up to see us. That was the first time we actually pulled a crowd from previous gigs and packed the fucker! That’s a great feeling whether you’re playing or promoting! To actually answer the question, yes!We fucking loved every minute! And I’m sure you did too. I saw you singing along you rasclart!
