Oxtricks

Some of you may have heard of Oxtricks and their spare time undertaking. But for some, the name Oxtricks, the terms Parkour and Tricking maybe something completely foreign. Matti explains what it is they do:

Oxtricks or Oxford Tricksters are based around Oxford but we travel far and wide. We are a group that studies the disciplines of Parkour and Tricking. Parkour is an urban discipline that involves using your urban environment to get from point A to point B in the most efficient and fastest way possible.

Tricking is another discipline that involves the urban environment, but is more centred around acrobatics and somersaults and is performed on concrete, grass, wooden floors or anything that is stable enough to stand and move on!

In 2005, many people from Oxford would meet up and train together. From 15 to as many as 30 people would turn up. But as time progressed, less and less people came to training, and the sessions were eventually left with 9 people. These 9 went on to form “Oxtricks”.

Six months later, we had press from various newspapers and were spotted by the BBC who offered a place to perform in an organiser’s event. The event went very well, and more people recognised our movement. We have been offered many performances in 2007 and hope you can come at catch us at one near you!
