A big weekend for Oxford Hip Hop

Its about time! Later this month sees two Hip Hop nights running on same weekend. One old and one new!

Friday the 23rd of March. Blunted returns with a monster of a local night at The Zodiac. Celebrating the launch of the second volume in our LMFLH (Local Music For Local Heads) series, the night is shaping up to be a immense gig. At only £5 you really can’t afford to miss out.

Saturday the 24th of March. 3:16 is a new UK Hip Hop night kicking off at The Coven II. Their first night featurs Klashnekoff promoting his new lp ‘Joe Buhdha Presents Klashnekoff”. Supported by local acts, £10 on the door.

So make sure you represent and reach both!

You guys are a waste, what about the hip hop nights that have been going on at the market tavern for months, they’re the only ones actually trying to bring regular hip hop to this place

    Easy.

I’m sorry if you took offence to my post.

Blunted arn’t trying to piss in anyone’s pudding. I personally was unaware of any regular nights at The Market Tavern. I apologise for that. Blunted have always welcomed other nights, its after all what we all want. We have no beef. We feel for the scene to develop we all need to work together and support each other.

Blunted have worked hard for years to try and bridge the gap and keep everyone informed of the happenings in the Oxford Hip Hop scene. It’s the main reason the Blog and Forum exists, to share this information.

We can’t always be expected to know everything that’s happening. We don’t have the man hours to actively seek it out either. We need people to come to us with information so we can relay that to the public. When this happens it benefits everyone concerned.

Please feel free to contact us with information regarding this night at The Market Tavern. We always want to hear about happenings in the scene, and if we can help out in anyway featuring or promoting this night then we will do our upmost to make that happen.

My email is roscoe@bluntedpresents.co.uk if you want to chat further.

    Peace

@Yo - in the time it took you to write that reply, you could have posted up about your gig in the Wha’Gwan section

@ Yo….(original name, by the way- must have taken you ages to think that up).

Who do you think you are? Blunted have always cared about the hip hop scene in Oxford- and you are…who? I’ve never heard of these Market tavern nights- or I would have checked them, but then if your attitude is such, it’s probably a good thing I’ve never been.

Tip: some posters and flyers can sometimes be helpful.

Nice one for being so negative.

    Peace,

    Yo got smoked.

  • Yo said:

Well I didn’t want anyone to think too hard you know. Don’t worry you won’t know about me until you need to, furthermore, ‘negativity’ was created when unamed players decided to claim exculsivity on the oxford hip hop game.

  • Yo said:

I said what I said out of frustration, I see a lot of talent get sidetracked because people have taken it upon themselves to ‘own’ Hip hop in Oxford and anybody not in the cliche gets sidetracked.

Having said that respect to Blunted for actually being humble and recognising a mistake I appreciate it, the night is on the 24th at the Market Tavern, it’s been running for a couple months now, it has an open mic and is avaliable for all those who love what they do, it starts at 8:00, £3.00 entry and the night is advertised in the nightshift every month, including this month.

Speaking of original, lets have a round of applause for all those who ‘ran’ to Blunted’s aid when they clearly didn’t need help. With comments like ‘Yo got smoked’ and ‘You tell ‘im Proj!’ *Sarcasm Alert* I’ve really learnt the error of my ways. *Sarcasm Alert*

Also to Project Cee, I am who I am you’ll know all about me soon. But I guess you must think you’re the Mayor of Hip Hop if you think it’ll make a difference to me if you’ve heard of the night or not, question is who are you?

Plus the name isn’t really relevant to the point so there’s no need to dwell on it is there Mr Mayor.

Anywhoo, thanks to Blunted for being Adults about this and if the others can put down their egos for long enough, it’d be good to see you at the night.

    Ricen Peace!!

  • Tyranny said:

@Yo - we’ve never claimed exclusivity over the Oxford hiphop scene. Thats why we created the website and the forum to get more people involved.

cheers for the ad roscoe. 3:16 is my first promotion.when i came to roscoe to ask for support he was more than willing. So you can’t fault Blunted
phluent 10 smackers is hardly breaking the bank my aim is to hopefully act as a stepping stone for more hip-hop busting on to the scene as availabilty is slightly limited. So support is needed if any live acts would like to showcase there thang at future events they can contact me at mf85@btinternet.com
we all want to see the oxford scene thrive spread the word then we can grow together.thanks for your support

  • Project Cee said:

I look forward to ‘knowing all about you soon’, Yo. But don’t wait too long, son.

I am the Mayor- you must have clocked me rocking my Dukie Gold Rope.

  • Yo said:

Yeah as fun as this fruitless ‘beef’ thing is I have better things to do so big up to blunted, project cee although i have no idea who you are and to be honest don’t really care either, big up to you, we’re all human at the end of the day thus all equal, therefore name dropping doesn’t really impress me.

See y’all in the near future.

    Out

  • Proj said:

That’s all good Yo…..don’t know who you are talking to when you say name dropping doesn’t impress you- that’s fine, just wondering in what context. Props to you for starting a night- and seriously man, if you post it up on ‘Wha Gwarn’ you will get support…..good luck…

    safe

  • Shaodow said:

Wow, word spreads fast, I didn’t even bother mentioning it on the forum didn’t think anyone’d be interested. The show was great my first time on the radio so real exciting, I had the three tunes that I am releasing played so that was something for me to be proud of. I hear blunted were there earlier but I was performing at the time so couldn’t come along.

I’m waiting on Cro to get me a copy of the show, I’ll send it to you if you wish

    Shaodow

  • Mr Shaodow said:

Thanx Phluent, (shamless advertising) http://www.myspace.com/mrshaodow. Yeah apparently I am doing the Coven as well so thats two shows in one night, major fun though. Also am filming a video for Back 2 da drawing board at the moment, so if you see me, holla. Last time the police turned up to the shoot, something about 15 people in hoodies wearing white masks chasing one black man down the street in the middle of the night looking slightly racist.

Don’t blame me i didn’t write the storyboard this time

    Shaodow

  • phluent said:

ahaa, nice concept for a video man, can understand the attention from 5-0 though!

yeah, shud link the copy of the show when you get hold of it mayne.
you hittin the launch party also?

    peace

  • Shaodow said:

Lol Phluent, the point was it wasn’t meant to be racist, I’ve already done the rascism video ‘Look Out There’s A Black Man Coming’ that should be on tv by April (You can see pictures from the shoot on my page).

According to the students running this project the people were meant to represnt the demons plauging my mind because I felt guilty being a drug dealer and all. However I started getting suspisious when they lit the cross on fire, and the klansmen on horse back were a bit unneccissary.

The show flyer won’t have my name on it unfortunatly, still I’m just happy to be a part of it I love performing. I’ll try and reach the launch party depends on coursework, do you know if there’ll be an open mic segment? I’d love to perform even one song.

Have we met before by the way?

    Shaodow

  • phluent said:

thinking of it, that concept is deep mayne!
not sure about the open mic sesh, there’s a fair few acts so the bill could be rimmed to the top, you’ll have to speak to tyrannyor roscoe about that.

naa man don’t think we’ve met, just reppin all uk acts out there like urself.

    yeh man, keep us posted.

  • Mr Shaodow said:

Cool, well I appreciate it, thank you

    Shaodow

  • Roscoe (Author) said:

    Easy Shaodow.

The Launch Night is already pretty rammed, so no open mic’s I’m afraid at this one. However, we are going to hook up a mic for The Dugout pre-Blunted Party.

So your good self or any MCs that want to cypher, make your way down to Moody’s from 8pm.

Hopefully we can get summit sorted.

Thanks for the support from everyone, its gonna be a huge night!
