I’m a huge fan of Task Force, as anyone who listened to my old mixtapes will know! Got sent a one-track promo for this album’s single (’Oh No!!’ ft. Farma G) a while back, and wasn’t really feeling it. Thought ‘From the Ashes’ might be a bit of a disappointment on that basis, but how wrong I was - it f*cking rocks!

For a start it’s extremely well produced & put together - Louis Slipperz on the buttons, and would have to say that his production has reached a new height with this record. Chester P’s very much on top form here too. It’s great he’s done a solo album, and even better that he’s done himself complete justice with it. Can see it appealing to a wide audience as well - ‘Chessmonster’s catchy as Eminem, ‘That Shiiit’ ft. Ias has a Streets kinda quality to it…. the Streets with testicles anyway!

I’m certainly not implying that he’s ’sold out’ to any extent, his lyrics and delivery are rugged as ever. But this record does have an all-round appeal & quality which could get him the widespread recognition he deserves. Honourable mention goes to Ramson Badbonez for his contribution on ‘the Sermon’, great stuff. ‘From the Ashes’ has just dropped, go buy it! A late contender, but think I’d have to say - my album of 2007
