The Fabric Podcast
I’ve been meaning to write a post about this for a while. I’m not sure how many people are aware of the excellent Fabric Podcast series, I wasn’t until recently but now I’m hooked. The ongoing theme behind the Podcast’s are similar to ‘Desert Island Disks’ but cater for DJs, producers and electronic musicians. The great thing about these Podcast’s, bar the excellent tune selection, is they also combine the right amount of insightful commentary and aren’t plastered with adverts and shite you don’t want to hear.
The first Podcast that took my interest was Keith Reilly’s, which is number 8 (pt.1) of a two part series featuring artists such as Trentemoller, Jay Jay Pistolet, Radioactive Man, Imogen Heap and Neon Heights. Since then I’ve listed to all the Podcasts a few times over and can’t recommend them enough, so far each one has been excellent in its own right (but Keith’s two are still firm favourites).
Of course, they won’t be everyone’s cup of tea as the ‘DJs’ are playing their personal favourites, but if your after something a little more diverse, eclectic and sometimes just odd you should check out a few.
This is the blurb taken from the Fabric website:
The fabric podcasts are sessions of music and words presented and compiled by a wide selection of musical luminaries; people who have dedicated their lives to creating and expressing music we love and admire. This roster includes some artists who perform at our club, some mentors, some underrated champions of genres lost by time and trends, but all purveyors of good music, whatever that may be. We ask each host to just play music that they love, that has inspired them, regardless of genre, time or any attachments people have to them with certain musical industries, and to explain to listeners why they’ve selected the pieces they have. Enjoy the music.
You can subscribe to the Fabric Podcast through iTunes, RSS from the Fabric website, or just stream them direct.
