Tom Caruana - Welcome Aboard EP
Well, looky what we have here…a new EP from the prolific Tom Caruana. He has just recently finished revamping his site Tea Sea Records, which really is worth checking. The amount of quality this man puts out is astounding. To give you a flavour, some of the stuff he’s doing at the moment include work with, Grand Agent, Dutch Courage, Teej, Elemental and the plethora of collabo’s that is Bombadeal.
With the launch of the new site comes the release of this special little 9 track EP ‘Welcome Aboard’. It seems that Caruana’s music is crossing borders, as this project is released in conjunction with Hungarian label Buda Beats. He said of the release “they (Buda Beats) asked to put out a little free EP I made out of tracks from my album ‘Bric A Brac’ and I said I’d rather make something exclusive”.
The thing is he never seems to do anything average, as you can tell when you listen to this EP, it reaks quality. He could have given them some half-baked tired old beats, instead he concocted a theme, “I had wanted to do some stuff about being on the ocean, then I found a vinyl given out to people on the QE2….so I made some skits and threaded them through the vocal tracks. This created the theme of the EP…”
It seems this accommodating label shared Caruana’s vision and went about creating the EP artwork in keeping with the sea-faring theme.

The link up came after someone at the label latched onto his Breakin Bread release ‘Splice of Life’. Ever the gentleman, he explains “I’m lucky to be asked to do something like this it taps into a completely new audience for me… They’ve asked me to go there to play but I’m gonna be in Edinburgh in August so wont make it over there but hopefully they’ll ask me again”.
